Join the holiday pilot! Apply for an independent family holiday if you want to focus on family time during the holiday and book a holiday for the summer of 2024.
Something new! We are piloting new types of social holidays. We offer families the opportunity to apply for a five-day independent family holiday.
How are independent family holidays different from other social holidays for families?
- The family does not apply for specific holidays (pre-booked time and holiday destination), but rather applies for the opportunity to book a holiday for the summer of 2024 at limited holiday destinations.
- The holiday does not include a holiday group or an activity programme, but the family goes on a family holiday and gets the opportunity to take advantage of the holiday destination’s activities.
- A pilot holiday costs less. The holidaymaker’s own contribution is only EUR 75 for person over 17 years of age. For children, there is no charge for the holiday.
- Participants of the pilot holiday undertake to provide feedback on the holiday.
Holidays are granted to families most in need of a social holiday. MTLH makes the decisions to grant holidays in line with the policies of the Funding Centre for Social Welfare and Health Organisations STEA.
Independent family holidays include
- Accommodation
- Full-board meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper)
- Family vacation activities of your choice (3 activities) from the activity selection of the destination
- Use of sauna and/or pool area and gym
The holidaymaker’s own contribution for independent family holidays EUR 75 for person over 17 years of age. For children, there is no charge for the holiday.

How can we apply for the pilot holiday?
Click on “Lomatukihakemukseen” in the table below and fill in the holiday application. You can find more information on filling in a holiday application here. If you need help, please contact our customer service.
For technical reasons, the table under “Ajankohta” shows the beginning of June. There is no need to be confused about this. The five-day holiday can be booked for the period from 2 June to 9 August 2024 (depending on the reservation situation of the holiday destination).
When will we be notified that the holiday has been granted?
If your family is granted an independent family holiday, you will receive a notification of this by 30 April 2024. The holiday invitation includes the identification number you need at the time of booking.
After the holiday invitation, you must pay your own contribution for the holiday within three weeks. Payment instructions can be found in the holiday invitation.
How do we book the holiday?
Once you have paid your own contribution, you can book a five-day holiday period of consecutive days from the following holiday destinations for the time period of your choice between 2 June–9 August 2024. The booking must be made at least 5 days before the holiday begins.
At the time of booking, please indicate your ID number on the invitation. Take a look at the activities of the holiday destination and indicate the holiday activities you have pre-selected (3 pcs) at the time of booking.
If there is no space at the destination at that time of your choosing, you can ask for a different time or contact another destination to inquire about their booking status. Places for holiday destinations are limited.
Would you like to have peer support or meet families in the same situation as you during your holiday? Is it important for you to spend time with other families on the holiday or make new friends? In this case, we recommend that you also have a look at other types of social family holidays.
